* The Musée des Beaux Arts is considered to be one of the finest art museums in France and many more, all of which make for excellent sightseeing.

Restaurants

For food there are over 2,500 bars and restaurants catering to all tastes within your budgets. Seafood is a local specialty. The famous pastry shop at La Pâtisserie Meert and Charles de Gaulle’s favorite tea-room.

Lille is also called as beer capital of France where you will get several good locally brewed varieties. So, have Lille’s delicious local cuisine, centered with sea food and rich sauces. For the sweet lovers, one must definitely go for ice-creams  as Lille is counted as best for its ice-creams in the world.

Shopping

Lille is a large indoor Shopping centre, located near to the Eurostar train station. It includes over 140 shops on two levels.Every Sunday morning Marché du Wazemmes street market takes place.

The Braderie is a large street market in Old Lille, held on the first weekend of September (all day on Saturday and Sunday, ending at midnight on Sunday). It is Europe’s largest flea market, which have 10,000 stalls and more than 1 million visitors.

Christmas Market

In late November and late December Christmas market is held in Place Rihour having about 80 different stalls, very famous market with special late night opening.
