Lille Transportation System

The city of Lille has a dependable, well-organized and efficient public transport network.It comprises of buses as well as trams and notably one of the world’s first(1983) driver-less Metro systems. You can also rent a taxi; they are widely available from Lille Flandres, Lille Europe train and Airport.

If you love to ride the city, you can also rent a bike. The best thing about Lille is that most places of interest to visitors are located within the city centre and to make things more simple they are well signposted. It makes walking the unsurpassed and most pleasant means of getting about.

  • Metro System- There are two metro lines crossing the city.They are the best rides in the city, you can sit in the front since there is no driver.It covers 60 stations on 45 km.

Line 1: Villeneuve d'Ascq 4 Cantons - Lille CHR Calmette B
Line 2: Lomme Saint Philibert - Tourcoing CH Dron

  • Trams - There is two tram lines that travel from Lille to Roubaix and Tourcoing, the tram line is served by more than 35 stations.
  • Buses – There is a proper bus system that runs on 60 different routes.

Timings – 5:30 am in the morning to around midnight except 1st may. (Buses, tram, metro)

City passes -Various city passes are also available that just cost around 15 euro for a day, 25 euro for two days and 30 for three days. These passes are the best deals for visitors, they allow unlimited access tp public transport and free entry to museums’ and monuments.
